Y'all remember "Natalie's" lounge from the 90's hit tv show "New York Undercover?" Dang.... I used to love that show. But what I REALLY loved was that pseudo lounge. Why yes children of the night, it was not a real place. When I first went to New York in February 1996, I asked my friend to take me there. Much to my dis-damn-may, he said "baby it don't exist." I was like "SAY WHAT?" No he was not up here telling me to my face that the place that had Stephanie Mills, Gerald Levert, Zhane, Gladys Knight and all those DOPE cats were up there falsely entertaining me did NOT exist! Hell to da....
Since my 5 year 61 day stint in Harlem, I have seen clubs, been to lounges and fulfilled my share of Harlem night life and I gotta say, from what "Natalie's" looked like in comparison to what I have seen with my natural eye, ain't nowhere big enough (space wise) to hold all them folk....including the stage to but the celebrity bammas on. In shawt (short) I miss that show and I'mma need to go to a "Natalie's" type spot soon. Happy Thursday kids :-)
